October Kids Craft:Ghost Pops By: Samantha Olea ________________________________ This is a very versitile, quick, all ages Halloween project. Many of us did this (or a variation of this) in school. It is fun to make a lot and pass them out in your Halloween Candy Bowl! You'll notice that all of the supplies have other supply options in { }, this is because, there is not right or wrong way to do this craft, and as I promised, this project costs very little, if any, out of pocket! :) Supplies: Bag of Large Lollipops {Blow Pops, Tootsie Pops, etc} Box of Kleenex Tissue {Any brand of 'thick' tissues will work} Colored String {yarn and ribbon work great-look around the house} Pink Chalk or Mommy's Blush & Q-Tip {optional-but makes a difference!} Black Permenant Marker{Kids markers are okay-test them first to see if the 'bleed' much} A Positively Spooky Attitude!!! 1. Take one tissue {2 if you have the thinner type} and lay it square in front of you. 2. Take another tissue {just as before} and lay it on top of the first, and lay it in a diamond shape {no folding} in front of you. 3. Take your lolli pop and place it with the stick going just to the tip of the last tissue, pointing at you. 4. Fold the top half of the tissues over the lolli pop. 5. Gently pick up your 'ghost' by the head {top of lolli pop}, and gather the tissues close to the top of the stick, and below the head. 6. One of you hold the ghost while the other tightly ties the string below its head. {This can also be done by laying the lolli pop down on top of the string and tying it around the ghost-but its more fun to have both of you working on it!} 7. Gently fluff out the bottom of the ghost's 'gown-and now you've got a Ghost Pop! 8. Draw your ghost's mouth first {if you think he has one :) }. 9. Draw your ghost's eyes. {Be as creative as you want to!} 10. Take your pink chalk or mommy's blush and q-tip, and apply little rosie cheeks to your ghost, and that's it!! Fun Party Game Using Ghost Pops: -------------------------------------------------------- Really Easy: Make up a bunch (one less then all of the participants of the game-make a few extra and put them up just incase extra kids show up! example:16 kids playing the game=15 ghost pops) of Ghost Pops and place them in a bowl. When the kids aren't looking make your Prize Pop by balling up 5 or more tissues, placing the ball in the center of the tissues, that are laid out just as before (see steps 1 and 2), gather tissues below ball, tie string, and proceed decorating it-try to make it look similar to the pops in the bowl. Do not explain the game to your kids! They are smart and WILL find the Prize Pop!! :) At game time, have the kids, one by one, pick a Ghost pop out of the bowl. The child who gets the empty ghost pop wins the prize! {Mega Sized Hershey bar is a great prize! Be creative!}. Its an 'everybody wins' game, because the true winner gets the big prize, and all of the other kids still got a ghost pop. Happy Halloween |
